Country Two Step

Country Two Step is danced to 4/4 time music, typically to Country music, often with a fiddle and guitar. It is generally a fast dance with many turns for the follower. Country Two Step is known by many names, Country Western Two Step, Texas Two Step, and Two Step. There are different variations of the Two Step depending on what area of the United States you are in; there is even often variation within a single dance hall. The basic dance step is closely related to the Foxtrot, but danced progressively around the room in a circle.

In a traditional frame, the leader places his right hand over the follower’s left shoulder. It is not uncommon to see a beer in the leader’s hand as the couple dances around the room.
